Planned Giving

  • Leave a legacy of opportunity.

When you include Harlem Academy in your estate plan, you open doors to a transformational education for future generations of promising students.
A planned gift is one of the most impactful ways you can support Harlem Academy’s mission. We invite you to become a member of The Opportunity Society, a committed group of supporters who have provided for the school and its students through a gift in their estate plan. We find inspiration in the founding year of the school as we honor supporters who have the foresight to ensure our mission extends to students far into the future.

Ways to Make a Planned Gift

  • Wills and Trusts

A gift in your will is a simple yet meaningful way to support Harlem Academy’s mission to drive equity of opportunity for promising students. You can arrange a gift of a specific amount, a percentage, or what remains of your estate. If your life or financial circumstances should change, you can amend your gift at any time.

    Sample Bequest Language:
I give, devise and bequeath to Harlem Academy, located in New York, NY, the sum of $_____________ (or all or a percentage of the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate, both real and personal), to be used for its general support (or for the support of a fund or program).
  • Beneficiary Designations

You can designate Harlem Academy as your beneficiary on assets like IRAs and life insurance policies. Simply ask your fund administrator for the beneficiary designation form and decide the portion you wish to leave to Harlem Academy.
